Understanding Route Directions in Human-Robot Dialogue

چکیده
This paper discusses some of the challenges in building a robot that is supposed to autonomously navigate in an urban environment by asking pedestrians for route directions. We present a novel Wizard-of-Oz setup for collecting route direction dialogues, and a novel approach for datadriven semantic interpretation of route descriptions into route graphs. The results indicate that it is indeed possible to get people to freely describe routes which can be automatically interpreted into a route graph that may be useful for robot navigation.

A Data-driven Approach to Understanding Spoken Route Directions in Human-Robot Dialogue
In this paper, we present a data-driven chunking parser for automatic interpretation of spoken route directions into a route graph that is useful for robot navigation. Different sets of features and machine learning algorithms are explored. The results indicate that our approach is robust to speech recognition errors.
متن کاملA Chunking Parser for Semantic Interpretation of Spoken Route Directions in Human-Robot Dialogue
We present a novel application of the chunking parser for data-driven semantic interpretation of spoken route directions into route graphs that are useful for robot navigation. Various sets of features and machine learning algorithms were explored. The results indicate that our approach is robust to speech recognition errors, and could be easily used in other languages using simple features.

In this paper, we present a user study where a robot instructs a human on how to draw a route on a map, similar to a Map Task. This setup has allowed us to study user reactions to the robot’s conversational behaviour in order to get a better understanding of how to generate utterances in incremental dialogue systems. We have analysed the participants' subjective rating, task completion, verbal ...

This paper reports on our work in the Transregional Collaborative Research Center Spatial Cognition (SFB/TR8). The aim of this research is to achieve a natural and effective dialogic interaction between a human and an intelligent robot on spatial navigation tasks. Therefore, we have introduced a conceptual level representation of human spatial knowledge on top of the robot’s quantitative repres...
متن کاملReconstructing human push recovery reactions using a three dimensional under-actuated bipedal robot
This paper presents the ability of hybrid zero dynamics (HZD) feedback control method to reproduce human like movements for walking push recovery of an under-actuated 3D biped model. The balance recovery controller is implemented on a three-dimensional under-actuated bipedal model subjected to a push disturbance. The biped robot model is considered as a hybrid system with eight degrees of freed...
